They presented a what-if, an alternate version of what we knew, and they demonstrated what sorts of decisions go into the making of a game. ![]() My favourite images in The Art of Mass Effect for example were concepts for the Illusive Man in the third game. What they show are concepts for what made it into a game, not what didn’t. They’re a nice way of satiating the inquisitive mind, those of us who want to take a look at the behind the scenes, the process behind making a game (or an anime, or whatever else you might buy an art book of).īut sometimes those books can be very limiting. I’m a big fan of art books despite having no proper understanding of art myself. Series-wide spoilers for Mass Effect follow.
